History
White Rabbit Boutique is located in the historic Downtown Martinez. The charming
downtown was a perfect place to locate this unique boutique. Martinez was not the first
location for this unique shoppe.
The first venture in retail was in Gardnerville, Nevada. In December 2003, Anne was looking
for a site to have a little shoppe with her daughter-in-law at that time, Charlene (who lived in
Gardnerville). They found a location in the Ranchos.
White Rabbit opened on February 7, 2004. This date was bittersweet because Anne
experienced the highest of highs with the opening of the new shoppe, but also experienced
the lowest of lows when her dad, Reno, died later that evening in the Bay Area.
White Rabbit was unique to Gardnerville. People loved the different clothing, the nag
champa incense, tribal masks, and the unique windchimes. It was a sad day when the
shoppe moved away.
White Rabbit closed its doors in March 2005. Anne retired from her job after 14 years with a
special district governmental job, moved the shoppe to the Bay Area, and opened White
Rabbit Boutique at 531 Main Street where it remained until the shoppe moved next door to
529 Main Street, its current site.
White Rabbit Boutique was voted "Best Place to Find a Unique Gift in Pleasant Hill and
Martinez" by the Contra Costa Times Readers.
